Transmission & Gearbox Repair
Diagnosis, repair, overhaul and installation of automatic and manual transmissions, including clutch and mounting work.
We carry out this work at our own workshop at Nairobi CBD, Kirinyaga Road, behind Eagle Towers. Diagnosis comes first, the quotation is written, and you approve it before anything is replaced.
What this service involves
- Road test recording shift points, slip and flare between gears.
- Fluid condition and level check at operating temperature.
- Scan of transmission control data where fitted.
- Repair, overhaul or replacement with mountings and seals renewed.
Symptoms that bring vehicles in for this work
- Delayed engagement when selecting drive
- Revs flaring between shifts
- Harsh or hunting gear changes
- Whining that changes with road speed
- Burnt-smelling transmission fluid
Components typically involved
- Clutch assembly
- Torque converter
- Valve body and solenoids
- Gearbox mountings

When to have it inspected
Service automatic transmission fluid on schedule; heavy traffic and hill work shorten the safe interval.

About the workshop

Frequently asked
Is a slipping gearbox always an overhaul?
No. Low or degraded fluid, a failed solenoid or a worn mounting produce the same symptom and cost far less to fix.
